This legislative session, despite a budget shortfall, I worked tirelessly alongside colleagues to secure over $30 million for local projects across our district.
These projects will support behavioral health services, housing, and the development of new parks and play areas.
As a proud Filipino-American with over 25 years in the human services field, my focus is on lifting up marginalized communities and delivering results for families.

Rep. Edwin Obras serves on the Health Care and Wellness, Labor and Workplace Standards, and Community Safety Committees.
Edwin immigrated as a child from the Philippines and is the first person in his family to graduate from college. He received his BA from the University of Washington and an MPA from Northeastern University.
Edwin has worked in the human services field for over 25 years both in non-profits and for the City of Seattle in areas of homelessness, anti-hunger, capacity building, youth development, community safety and services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
He volunteered his time as the Chair the SeaTac Human Services Advisory Committee from 2016 to 2018. Edwin sits on the Board of Directors at the Filipino Community of Seattle, having served 5 years as Board President. He is also Co-chair of their capital campaign to build more affordable housing. Edwin is committed to supporting policies that ensure Washington is a safe and affordable place to live.
Families must be able to stay in their homes and communities, and near schools and support networks.
He’s seen how skyrocketing rents are disrupting communities and reducing retirees’ buying power.
There was a lot to do this past legislative session, including balancing the state’s budget and tackling the state’s housing crisis, among other things.
